Basic Farewell Hit

Deals Physical DMG equal to 100% of the Trailblazer's ATK to a single enemy (Lv. 6). The straightforward single-target basic attack, used to generate Energy between Skill and Ultimate uses.

100% of ATK
Skill RIP Home Run

Deals Physical DMG equal to 125% of ATK to a single enemy and adjacent enemies (Lv. 10). Notably, this is the only Blast Skill in the game that deals the same damage to all targets hit rather than less to adjacent foes. Enhanced by the A6 trace for boosted single-target portions.

125% blast
Ultimate Stardust Ace

Costs 120 Energy. Choose between two attack modes: Blowout: Farewell Hit: deals 450% ATK Physical DMG to a single target. Blowout: RIP Home Run: deals 270% ATK to main target and 162% ATK to adjacent enemies. The flexibility is unique, allowing adaptation to single-target bosses or multi-enemy waves.

450% single target
Talent Perfect Pickoff

Each time this character inflicts Weakness Break on an enemy, ATK increases by 20%. This effect stacks up to 2 times (total +40% ATK). The conditions get harder to meet in the late game as enemy Toughness scales up, limiting the Talent's reliability.

+40% ATK max
Technique Immortal Third Strike

Immediately heals all allies for 15% of their respective Max HP after using this Technique. A practical out-of-combat heal that reduces the need to spend resources before challenging encounters.

Best Teams for Trailblazer (Physical)

Trailblazer (Physical) works best with supports who can apply DEF shred or ATK buffs and a sustain unit. Their Blast AoE Skill and flexible Ultimate adapt to most team structures in early and mid-game content.

01 · Early Game Standard Best early-game lineup
Trailblazer (Physical)
Trailblazer
Main DPS
Pela
DEF Shred
Asta
ATK / SPD Buff
Natasha
Healer
Pela's DEF shred amplifies Physical DMG, while Asta provides ATK and Speed buffs for faster Ultimates. Natasha handles healing. All four are accessible to new players and form a reliable unit for early story and Simulated Universe.
02 · Physical Break Focus Maximize Weakness Break uptime
Trailblazer (Physical)
Trailblazer
Main DPS
Luka
Physical Sub-DPS
Pela
DEF Shred
Gallagher
Sustain
Luka adds more Physical Toughness damage to keep enemies broken, activating Trailblazer's Talent more reliably. Pela shreds DEF and Gallagher provides healing while applying Weaken. Strong for Physical-weak content.
03 · Bronya Buffer Pure damage amplification
Trailblazer (Physical)
Trailblazer
Main DPS
Bronya
ATK / CRIT Buffer
Silver Wolf
DEF Shred / Weakness Implant
Bailu

Bronya's ATK and CRIT DMG buffs push Trailblazer's Ultimate to its highest damage output. Silver Wolf implants Physical Weakness on non-weak targets and shreds DEF. A more premium setup but still accessible for mid-game.

Eidolons

As the main character, you will earn all Eidolons for free over time through story progression. None are transformative, but they provide incremental improvements.

E 1
A Falling Star
When enemies are defeated due to the Trailblazer's Ultimate, the Trailblazer regenerates 10 extra Energy. This effect can only be triggered once per attack. Helps reduce the time between Ultimates when clearing enemies with the AoE Blowout mode.
Free Over Time
E 2
An Unwilling Host
Attacking enemies with Physical Weakness restores the Trailblazer's HP equal to 5% of ATK. A nice passive sustain bonus against Physical-weak enemies that reduces healing demand from supports.
Passive Sustain
E 3
A Leading Whisper
Skill Lv. +2 (max 15) and Talent Lv. +2 (max 15). Boosts the two most important combat abilities. The Skill upgrade meaningfully increases Blast AoE damage output at this stage of the kit.
Solid Upgrade
E 4
A Destructing Glance
When attacking an enemy with Weakness Break, CRIT Rate is increased by 25%. This is the most impactful Eidolon, a large free CRIT Rate bonus that applies to any broken enemy regardless of element, reducing the stat investment needed on relics significantly.
Best Eidolon
E 5
A Surviving Hope
Ultimate Lv. +2 (max 15) and Basic ATK Lv. +1 (max 10). Increases the primary damage source, the dual-mode Ultimate, by two levels for a modest damage increase.
Incremental
E 6
A Trailblazing Will
The Trailblazer's Talent is also triggered when they defeat an enemy, not just on Weakness Break. Makes stacking the Talent's ATK bonus easier in scenarios with lower-HP enemies where breaking Toughness first is impractical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only for the early and mid-game. Trailblazer (Physical) is a competent free DPS at first, and you will unlock all their Eidolons for free over time. However, Physical characters like Clara, Yunli, and Argenti vastly outperform them. Other paths of the Trailblazer (Harmony, in particular) provide far more value, so investing heavily is not recommended unless you are deliberately building them for fun.
It is the only Ultimate in Honkai: Star Rail that lets you choose between two attack modes at the time of use: Blowout: Farewell Hit for a massive 450% ATK single-target strike, or Blowout: RIP Home Run for a 270% ATK + 162% ATK Blast AoE. This flexibility lets you adapt to whatever the current fight demands without needing to swap characters.
Perfect Pickoff grants +20% ATK each time Trailblazer inflicts Weakness Break, stacking up to 2 times for +40% ATK total. In the early game, enemy Toughness bars are small enough that breaking them is trivial. In the late game, enemies have much larger Toughness pools and higher HP, making it harder to reliably break them, especially on non-Physical-weak targets. As a result the Talent stacks become harder to maintain.
With significant investment (E4 for +25% CRIT Rate on broken enemies, maxed traces, Scholar Lost in Erudition, On the Fall of an Aeon) they can produce workable damage numbers. Simulation data shows around 111,824 damage in 1-target scenarios at E0 and up to 125,626 at E6. That said, they rated T5 (lowest tier) in Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow, well below dedicated physical DPS options. Other units are a far better resource investment.
Harmony Trailblazer is the most important form; they are considered one of the best supports in the game for Break-focused teams and are essentially mandatory in many top-tier compositions. Preservation (Fire) Trailblazer provides a free tank option. These two forms share no trace progress or Light Cone with Physical Trailblazer, so prioritize upgrading them instead unless you have a specific reason to invest in the Physical form.
Trailblazer (Physical) and Arlan share the C Tier (Outclassed) ranking. Both are early-game DPS units that lose relevance as the player progresses. Arlan sacrifices HP to deal damage but lacks the raw scaling and support tools to keep up with later characters. Both are usable in casual content but should not be the focus of your resource allocation in the mid to late game.
